Commercial Van Wrap

De Draaiboom is a hardware store focused on construction professionals. They wanted to wrap their delivery van so it could double as mobile advertisement for their store. The design should appeal to their target demographic and include key contact information.

 Process

Drawing the car in a flat 2D environment is easy. Translating it to a 3D object, with sharp design lines, curves, and elements like door handles, is the hard part. Throughout many vehicle wrap projects like these, I learned to pay attention to specific things; like where to best place text and logo’s (that might deform); how to seamlessly blend corners and what to watch out for, like a sliding door that may cut the design in an unfortunate place.

With this design, I placed extra care to ensure the logo would remain legible, and that the wrench would still look believable with the van door open, which is often the state it will be in when parked & in use.

Concept

Here's some of the rough concepts I pitched to the client. As you can see, they went with the green option (with a few minor adjustments).
